When I was in Kindergarten, my parents noticed my face and legs swell up from water retention. After visiting a doctor, they said I had childhood onset, minimal change nephrotic syndrome.

My mom, being the research-warrior that she is, decided to take me to Agape Natural Health, and commit to a natural medicine regime: very limited sugar and salt in my foods, juicing and clean foods, plus acupuncture and herbs. I was young and couldn’t swallow the herbs yet, so we got creative and ground them up with a mortar and pistol and mixed them into applesauce.

About two years of acupuncture treatment from Dr. Huang and the staff at Agape Natural Health and lots of prayer from family and friends, I was miraculously healed. Up until that point, my body showed no signs of healing, but about three years after the diagnosis, my nephrotic syndrome completely disappeared.

July of 2017 marked the five year checkpoint without a relapse, so I was officially released from nephrotic care at CHOC Children’s hospital, the hospital that diagnosed my condition in the first place.

Six years ago, I found myself battling HBP (High Blood Pressure) due to overwhelming stress. Then, to my devastation, shock, and horror, about three years ago, I received the diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis—a progressive autoimmune disorder where my immune system attacks my central nervous system, causing lesions. Neurologists informed me that I had multiple lesions on my brain. The left side of my body became weak to the point where I couldn’t walk. I have been struggling with Systemic Sclerosis, also known as scleroderma, GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease), Anxiety, and Stress for about three years now. Systemic Sclerosis, an autoimmune disease, has particularly affected me as it causes the body to attack itself. In my case, inflammation of the esophagus, stomach pain, and constant heartburn.

Scleroderma can affect any part of the digestive system, from the esophagus to the rectum.

While I've experienced minor GERD since September 2017, it worsened significantly three years ago. I was constantly plagued by heartburn, stomach pain and chest pain, and I found myself burping all day. It began to affect every aspect of my life, from work to relationships. Socializing and going out to eat became incredibly difficult, and I couldn't even enjoy meals with my family.

Endoscopy confirmed the inflammation of the esophagus due to Systemic Sclerosis and GERD. The prescribed medications didn't help at all and I was feeling miserable. SUCCESS | PARRY-ROMBERG SYNDROME – SCLERODERMA, LINEAR MORPHEA AND VITILIGO | AUTOIMMUNE CONDITION

Our journey with Parry-Romberg syndrome, an autoimmune condition, with Scleroderma, Linear Morphea, and Vitiligo, began with the first symptoms appearing in 2018 in my child at the age of 7. As a parent, witnessing my child’s health challenges was a heart-wrenching experience.

Finding effective treatment for our child became our top priority. At a young age of 9, on July 16, 2020, we discovered Agape Natural Health in Newport Beach, California, and embarked on a transformative medical journey under the care of Dr. Huang at Agape Natural Health. Their expertise in acupuncture, coupled with herbal supplements tailored to my child’s needs, offered hope during uncertainty.

Symptoms were first noted 2 years prior around age of 7, initially appearing as white color changes on the forehead or vitiligo. Despite undergoing treatment with another doctor without any improvement for vitiligo, over time, our child developed the left side of the face develop atrophy which was later diagnosed as scleroderma.

We were devastated and saddened by this horrible situation.

In September 2020, a follow-up with a medical doctor explained to us that Sophia’s condition is an autoimmune condition. There is damage caused by inflammation that leads to atrophy of tissue and fibrosis, disfiguring the face. It was highly advisable for Sophia to initiate standard care for localized scleroderma with weekly injectable medication, accompanied by another medication the day after. Additionally, there are protocols for active disease utilizing high-dose of medications for weeks. In another follow up in 2021, the medical doctor also was worried about risk of serious eye damage and serious neurological damage due to this autoimmune condition.

The doctor explained the benefits and risks involved in utilizing immunosuppressive medications to treat scleroderma. However, our family was reluctant to start the medications and would like to continue with Agape Natural Health for a few months first and then follow-up.

Over the next 3 years into September 2023, our child’s condition remained very stable and growing as a healthy, active, normal child with great quality of life. We continued to go to Agape Natural Health weekly for acupuncture and taking herbs while being monitored by the all the doctors for over 3 years without taking any of the immune suppressant medications.

After the MRI on September 24, 2023, the best news a parent could receive! The report said, “there was no significant subcutaneous edema or enhancement to suggest inflammation. There was also no evidence of skin thickening or abnormally enhancing masses within the face. Additionally, the contents of the orbits, paranasal sinuses, mastoid air cells, nasopharynx, oropharynx, hypopharynx, and visualized supraglottic larynx were all normal in appearance. The visualized portions of the brain were also normal.”

My journey started 25 years ago, when I was diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis, a form of connective tissue arthritis. Shortly after this I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. This was followed by endometriosis, IBS, upper G.I inflammation, iritis, and ending with the most terrible condition called IC or interstitial cystitis; a very painful chronic bladder condition. All these conditions are a problem of the autoimmune system.

Over these 25 years, all of the other issues, with the help of doctors, medications, nutritionists and self-research, I was able to treat the conditions. But it was like putting band-aids on huge wounds. However, NOTHING helped the IC. I went to a urologist for several years. He used a treatment called DMSO, which is a bladder catheterization with a solution designed to coat the bladder in an attempt to temporarily replace the mucus lining naturally found in the bladder. (It is assumed that IC patients lack this lining.) I did these treatments in his office, once or more a month for several years. The treatments were frequently painful and always uncomfortable. They were better than nothing, but they barely got me through from treatment to treatment.

After a couple of years of this, I started realizing that my hair was falling out. The last six treatments had caused nausea, and one morning I woke up with a sense that I was slowly dying. I went in for the next treatment and this one hurt so bad. When I sat up on the exam table, after the installation of DMSO, pain shot through my bladder and down my legs, I thought I was going to lose the solution, which I had to hold for 20 minutes, I realized then, I had to do something else. DMSO was not working for me.

I suffered from Celiac Disease for 10 years. As a result, I experienced intestinal pain, bloating and bad reaction to foods. In January 2011, I was diagnosed with Psoriatic Arthritis. Up until then, I was healthy. Then in April 2012, I was diagnosed with Lupus which was detected in my blood. The Rheumatologist put me on Plaquenil twice a day, which did not help me at all and made my psoriasis worse. I was also on a Lupus drug trial which made things worse. My energy was low, my immune system was down. I missed a lot of work, had to reduce hours, and my job was losing faith in me. My 17-year-old daughter is an accomplished athlete who competes at a high level. At 16 she started having some health issues. Her blood tests showed that she had hyperthyroidism. Doctors wanted to put her on medication that would ultimately force her to be on medication for the rest of her life. We knew she was too young and otherwise healthy to do that, so we took her to a natural doctor who put her on vitamins to help her health improve.

About a year later, she lost a small patch of hair, and we went back to the natural doctor to see what might have caused that. He took blood tests again, and her thyroid was still hyper. Also, her iron was low, and he said she was anemic. She was often tired, but we thought it was from all the volleyball training. So she started taking iron to see if that would improve things. Strangely, her cholesterol was also high (over 200) even though she was practically a vegetarian, and her tonsils were always swollen.

After a few weeks on the iron, she came home from a volleyball tournament with swollen ankles. She thought she had double sprained ankles. Within a couple days, a dark red rash showed up on her ankles and spread up her legs to her knees. We took her to a dermatologist and he said it looked like an autoimmune response. At that point, she was also feeling really weak and she could barely walk with her swollen ankles. My husband researched her symptoms and we realized there was no known Western cure for what she was experiencing. There was only thyroid medication and steroids to reduce the symptoms, but nothing to actually heal her. So we looked up non-Western approaches to treating an autoimmune disorder, and we found Dr. Huang.

We went in scared and confused, watching our strong, healthy daughter in such a weak state. Dr. Huang seemed so confident that he could help her. He believed she had a virus (probably Epstein Bar), and her body had been fighting it since she first started not feeling well a year before. That was why her tonsils were always swollen. The virus finally took over, and the autoimmune response was her immune system over-fighting until it actually attacked her own body.

In the beginning of treatment, her hands also started to swell and the rash looked like it was tying to come through on her arms, but acupuncture seemed to keep it from breaking out the way her legs did. She remained really weak the first couple weeks, but acupuncture did stabilize her. Every time we went in, we had so many questions for Dr. Huang, and he was always so patient and kind in answering us. He even took phone calls (so many calls!), and always understood our concerns.

Just over a month of acupuncture, taking herbs and eating the foods Dr. Huang suggested, her rash was fading and her ankles were normal. She took blood tests and her thyroid level was normal for the first time in a year! No medications were necessary. She slowly got back into working out with volleyball, but had to take it easy. In two and a half months, she would be leaving to the university where she would play volleyball. I was afraid she would need more time to heal after all her body had been going through, but Dr. Huang believed he could get her healthy by then.

Her next blood test was another month later, and at that point her cholesterol was down to 147. It went down over 50 points even after Dr. Huang had her add organic beef to her diet to help her iron. I asked him how it could be over 200 when she was practically a vegetarian and yet drop so much when she started eating beef. Dr. Huang explained that acupuncture and herbs were helping her liver function properly, which is a greater factor in cholesterol than just diet. The fact that my daughter was feeling better told me acupuncture was working, but seeing the blood tests was proof that it was really healing her inside. The patch of hair she had lost also started growing back, and her tonsils were getting smaller than they'd been in a year.

When I found Dr. Kevin, I was absolutely desperate. My daughter at 13 years old was no longer living a life a 13 year old should live. She no longer could show up to school, participate in gymnastics, and she didn't want to have friends over because she was so afraid of how she would feel. I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism - Grave's Disease around 2 years ago. Initially, I feared that my illness would negatively change the quality of the rest of my life. I had the choice to get iodine treatment to kill my thyroid, get surgery, or take medication for a year or so and wait for improvement For the last option, there was always the chance that my illness could return, but with any of the options, I would most probably have to be on medication for the rest of my life. My initial choice was to get iodine treatment, but my parents' suggested we give the drug medications a chance before permanently removing my thyroid.

The illness caused heart palpitations and trembling in my muscles. I also felt hot even in cold environments and I lost a lot of weight and had shortness of breath. Along with these symptoms, I sometimes felt anxiety and was extremely fatigued most of the time. These symptoms definitely made it difficult to do many activities, especially since I was tired most of the time. My grades and my social life suffered because tasks took me longer to complete and I couldn't perform to the best of my ability. My illness also kept me from being active in sports because of heart palpitations and also limited my ability to play piano and sing because my hands and voice would tremble badly.

As prescribed by modern medicine, I took methimazole in varying dosages depending on my blood test results, and Atenolol for a short time to normalize my heartbeat. The possible side effects were itching, liver problems and decreased white blood cell count right before I decided to come to Agape Natural Health, the symptoms of my hyperthyroidism had been getting worse and we had come to the conclusion that the drug medications were no longer working. My mom had always suggested that we check out the Agape Natural Health, but at first I was skeptical. However, since my condition only seemed to be getting worse, I decided to finally check out the clinic with my Mom as a last resort before finally getting iodine treatment. CROHN’S DISEASE | MY SON'S STORY

In January 2009, my son began to vomit all meals and began to have stomach aches and pains. He was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease in March 2009. I never even knew what Crohn’s Disease was. I was shocked anyone in my family even had a disease. We were always so healthy. No one in our family was ever sick from anything before this, but that was always because my mom (his grandmother) always fed the family fresh organic foods and plenty or vitamins. When he started getting stomach aches, I always noticed at dinner time when he would stop mid-meal, not move, and trying to will away his stomach pain. He became increasingly unable to eat. He ate less and less and less. He was increasingly angry and short-tempered. This illness not only limited his food but it affected his relationship with the family negatively. The Intestinal Doctor says he would have this disease for the rest of his life and be on these drugs for years; that there was no cure but we could manage the disease.

My son was so sick and because he’d lost so much weight, he looked malnourished. He started taking the steroids and that decreased the inflammation in his small intestine and he was so happy that he could eat, that he sat down and ate raw vegetables but then he saw the pizza everyone else was eating. He had been so famished that he dove right into the pizza and that night he suffered from the worst most severe stomachache he had ever had! We rushed him to the hospital where they diagnosed him with a bowel obstruction. His small intestines had inflamed and completely shut down. So they put him on a much greater dosage of steroids and morphine for the pain. After the hospital increased his dosage, his legs became so weak that he went down in P.E. It scared the doctor so bad that he weaned him off of them 10 mg/day until he was at zero. We wouldn’t do their treatments. We just went there to get diagnosed but it took so long he lost 15 lbs. Once he gave in to take their drugs, he ate like a starving person and ended up in the hospital with a bowel obstruction.

Once released from the hospital we came to see Dr. Huang at Agape Natural Health where he had acupuncture 3 times a week, took herbal supplements and changed his diet. He cut out all processed foods, ate more healthy and began to gain his weight back. He became a happy boy. We weaned him off the steroids and other medicine that modern medicine told us he’d be on for years. I have had psoriasis since I was 13 years old. It was itchy, flakey, red and noticeable. I first got it on my scalp which led to hair loss. 4-5 years ago, I was diagnosed with the Epstein Barr Virus (EBV) and Lupus and I suffered the whole time. In 2000, I had a vaginal hysterectomy and a platelet issue and almost died. In 2004, I came down with a kidney infection and almost died and went home with a PICC (Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter) line inserted through a vein in the arm for 2 weeks. I suffered from chronic fatigue, severe heart pain, bone pain with severe inflammation, severe lower back pain, and weight gain. I couldn't do anything, and I lived on the couch. It was horrible, and I thought that I was dying. I also had mononucleosis at the same time. I couldn't use my muscles to walk or move. I had so much swelling. Everything slowed down.

I sought the help of a cardiologist, bone doctor and went to a fibromyalgia clinic and also to UCLA. I took every drug known to man including Provastatin, Prilosec, Amiloride, Hydrochlorothiazide, Hectorol, and I had IV treatments. They gave me diabetes medication and had me drinking calcium. They were horrible. I had the shakes and low blood pressure. I had migraines, I couldn't see, and I was getting weaker plus having bone pain. As a result of all this, I ended up on Nitroglycerin tabs. I thought I was having complications from all the medications while getting worse. I was told there was no cure for me, but only manage me.

I suffered from depression for years caused by a hypothyroid problem.  I was on a lot of medications and tried everything including the drug Prozac from my doctor. In April 2008 I was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease. I was shocked and concerned due to my father having the same health issue. I had a very abnormal digestive process, bouts of diarrhea and lack of energy. I also felt bloated and weak. My food selection was limited. Different foods that I would eat would have an adverse affect on my digestive system. I always made sure I was close to a restroom. My condition was constantly on my mind and I wondered what the future held for me. Over all it was an unknown type of illness that would affect me down the road. I thought I would never have a normal life.

My MD prescribed two different types of medications Entocort and Mercaptopurine. The treatments offered to me were medications and doctor visits. I also had a Colonoscopy (upper and lower GI) and a CAT scan. While taking these medications I had side effects of weakness and joint pain. It maintained my symptoms more than reversed the disease. The medications stabilized my symptoms and I had an occasional flare up – even though I was taking my medications.

A friend referred me to Dr. Huang and I began coming to Agape Natural Health on April 28, 2011. I was hoping that it would reverse the Crohn’s Disease and give me energy that would sustain me. The clinic had a professional - extremely nice atmosphere and very friendly. I was not very educated on natural medicine and not aware of everything it could do. Slowly I began to wean myself off the medications. Within the first 3 months I began to feel better. I had increased energy and quality of life. The process included different portions of the body stimulated via a needle to bring healing. I had very positive results! I’m totally free of drug medications. I was first diagnosed with Psoriatic Arthritis about 13 years ago, and then was diagnosed with Lymphoma beginning of 2016. I became very stressed out when I learned of my condition. My ankles, knees, wrists, and elbows were badly affected. I was a teacher and needed accommodations to transit when I was in school, such as needing rollers on my stools so I didn't have to stand whenever I was helping my students. I first noticed unusual pain as the first symptom. I would still exercise, but I could not do yoga, pilates, spin classes, or any fitness classes that involved bending of my joints because it would put too much pressure on my joints.

My dad had Psoriasis and suffered severely; 95% of his skin was covered with psoriasis and there was no cure to it. He tried taking medicines and treatments but did not get better. I wish I could have prevented it early. I took different kinds of medications such as Enbrel for Psoriatic Arthritis that was prescribed by my rheumatologist. It is a weekly injection, and I took it for 12 years. The side effect of this drug was Lymphoma (a type of cancer). I had surgery in my neck and they found a small lymph that looked suspicious. It was at that time that I stopped taking Enbrel. I was also taking Methotrexate, and it raised my liver count. Methotrexate is a form of low dose chemotherapy, an immunosuppressive agent, that is very toxic for the liver. I still see my rheumatologist every 3 months plus getting blood work done. I thought the medications were working, they are very costly. I would spend about $1700 a month on the Enbrel shots. If I had to do it over again, I would do a more natural approach. The medications that I was taking weakened my immune system, and drug side effects was the reason for me getting diagnosed with lymphoma.

I became more aware and knowledgeable about natural treatments, did some research and on February 9th, 2016, I started coming to Agape Natural Health to get acupuncture treatments and herbal medicine. My friends and family were supportive. When I first came to Agape Natural Health, I immediately felt welcomed. The staff is very understanding and kind. Since I started getting treatments here, I have felt better. Dr. Huang has always been very positive, and he is very kind, energetic, and reassuring. Acupuncture definitely helped me and I haven't taken any drug medications in 2 years. My blood work is stable, and my SED RATE (Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate or ESR) went from 95 to 2. The ESR is a blood test that reveals inflammatory activity in the body and helps in the diagnosis and monitors the process of an inflammatory disease. My SED RATE has not been that low in 10-12 years and I was surprised to hear the rheumatologist say that I am stable.

I will continue to come to Agape Natural Health for treatments. My friends and family are very happy and pleased that I'm not taking drug medicines anymore. My impression of Agape Natural Health remains the same, it is always very inviting, and I have recommended some friends as I was actually referred to this clinic by a friend of mine. I believe that anything that's less invasive and has no side effects has to be a safer way to approach and prevent illness. I would tell anyone that's skeptical to just try acupuncture before spending money on drug medications. Go on the internet to see the testimonials; I am the living proof that acupuncture works! At least give it a shot.
