STAGE 4 COLON CANCER THAT SPREAD TO MY LIVER- GASTROINTESTINAL STROMAL TUMOR (GIST)

When I first saw Dr. Kevin Huang, my prognosis was dim. I was diagnosed with colon cancer that had spread to my liver and a rare gastrointestinal stromal tumor. I had undergone surgery for the colon cancer and was put on a type of chemo that made me sick. I lost a lot of weight and was extremely anxious and depressed. I had never been treated with acupuncture before and was hesitant to add yet another treatment to my protocol, but I was desperate to find help.

Dr. Huang immediately reassured me that “Aculove” was painless and effective. My surgeon told me that I probably had a year if I did not do anything. I wanted to try a more holistic approach instead of just relying on traditional medicine and chemo. Dr. Huang’s methodology helped me to remain calm, sleep better, and gain weight while also lowering my CEA (cancer markers). As a result, I was able to survive two more major surgeries and two additional chemotherapies. Even when I was recuperating from surgery, Dr. Huang kept in touch with me. Now that my scans reflect the good news that there is no evidence of cancer, I have returned to Dr. Huang’s care so that I can remain cancer free. Additionally, Dr. Huang helped to reduce the inflammation that caused my liver markers to remain high following surgery. I trust Dr. Huang and know that he has my best interests at heart.

In addition to being a critical part of my cancer recovery team, Dr. Huang decreased the extreme pain caused by my TMJ so that I was able to chew and enjoy food once again.

The office staff is professional and kind. The office is clean and has a relaxing atmosphere. I am always seen promptly and checked out quickly.

In July of 2011 a new CT scan revealed that the cancer spots had disappeared. This was also true for the next several CT scans. I am on medication from the regular doctor, however, the oncologist is surprised by the progress I am making. In our last visit she told me I was in complete remission and the side effects of the medicine are minimal.

I believe this would not have been the same without Dr. Huang and his staff of dedicated people. One of the great things of this office is that Dr. Huang prays with his patients. I look forward to that moment every time I come and gain strength and courage from the idea that a doctor cares enough to pray and be personally involved in my life.

During the treatments, Dr. Huang was very supportive through his knowledge and so was the medical staff at Agape Acupuncture, Inc. However, I remained skeptical and negative about recovery because this disease is very silent. I thought for sure I was getting worse and going to die. Dr. Huang told me to base things on fact and not on feeling and to wait for the next CT Scan and lab tests.

On October 30, 2012, my new CT Scan report and scientific instruments confirmed that my tumor shrank nearly 50% one dimension one side. It went from 37mm to 20mm from August 15, 2012 to October 12, 2012. The UCI Oncologist Chief Surgeon confirmed that the tumor shrank and it separated from the artery. Now there is an option for surgery and there are no new lesions. Seeing the results on paper that my tumor had shrank brought me comfort and my state of mind was renewed somewhat.

I started feeling better right after the first treatment. Two weeks into the acupuncture treatments, I started chemo. I had a total of 6 chemotherapy sessions and the side effects were minimal and I had lots of energy. I lost weight, and I lost 6 inches. I am excited about the results and excited for the future. I am able to continue as if I did not have cancer.

The Natural Medicine Center did not compromise the modern medicine perspective with natural medicine views. Dr. Huang does not tell his patients to stop the modern medicine and only do the natural way. The treatments are a whole approach on trying to heal as much as possible. The clinic is caring, friendly and clean. The medical staff is wonderful and caring, and they know my name. I would refer others and encourage others to try natural medicine.

Patient had left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) test done before starting for the first time chemotherapy and the result was 56.2% on 11-13-12where above 55% is considered normal range. Patient has been receiving chemotherapy at Kaiser and acupuncture breast cancer support with us here at Natural Medicine Center at the same time and the results came from Kaiser on 2-26-13 almost 3 months of chemotherapy along with acupuncture breast cancer support where the left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) was greatly improved to 72%! It was a great result where the patient’s ejection fraction improved with acupuncture breast cancer support and not decrease as was expected by her other doctors due to the chemotherapy.
